The Site
This site exists as both a creative outlet and a motivational reminder: keep the intentions in my life clear and to persevere in those activities. Those guidelines are manifested by my effort to take a photograph everyday and present it; to create a visual chronicle of my life. I try to capture something unique about each day, an activity I involve myself with that is different from the rest, ideally with a focus on things here in Portland, Oregon and in the greater Pacific Northwest. Most of the photos you see here are film pictures, which I think purvey more meaning than most digital. Apples and oranges, really.
The Author
My name is Evan, I am in my late twenties and currently reside in Portland, Oregon. I “make a living” by finding an ever-shifting balance between income sources and various pipe dream projects. I have been doing web development for around ten years now - the past two using Ruby and working with some very smart people here in Portland. If you’re interested in that, you can see some of my work on my portfolio page. Aside from that, I burn time making music and mingling in the lives of the ordinary (who are often much more interesting).
The Hardware
I try to take as many photographs as I can with film cameras. I shoot with a Contax G1 35mm rangefinder, usually with a Carl Zeiss Biogon T* 28mm f/2.8. My other film camera is a Zenza Bronica SQ-A medium format SLR, usually with a PS 80mm f/2.8 lens. I love Fuji Velvia slide film, I cannot stress the beauty of the film enough.
My currently defunct digital rig is a Canon 40D. My only lens at the moment is a Canon USM 10-22mm f/3.5 ultra wide angle. I sometimes use a Canon 480EXII speedlite flash.
